Not only is zinc good for the immune system and helps wounds to heal faster but it’s also good for skin cell renewal. The daily recommended dose of zinc is 15 mg but did you know that calcium supplements and other things such as breast feeding can deplete the amount of zinc you have? Cereals such as Cheerios, oysters, meat, lentils, dairy foods and nuts are all good sources of zinc.
Of course, supplements are not the only opportunity to increase zinc intake as there are a variety of products to choose from marketed for facial application.
Fenix has a product called Hyaluronic Copper Zinc Renewal Serum in a 1 Fl oz bottle for a mere $105.
Fenix Hyaluronic Copper Zinc Renewal Serum 1oz
According to AskDerm.com, “This anti-aging super formula enhances the revitalization of the skin, supports cell renewal, hydrates, firms and smoothes the skin.
As we age, the epidermis stops producing and repairing skin cells as rapidly. This results in dryer, thinner and more wrinkled skin. This anti-aging super formula enhances the revitalization of the skin, supports cell renewal, hydrates, firms and smoothes the skin. Repairs damaged cell membranes and fortifies your skin’s support structure. Provides moisturization and stimulates collagen production. With continued use fine lines are diminished and skin becomes softer, smoother and more translucent.
Formulated with SEPITONIC M3
Sepitonic M3 is a multimineral chrono-energizer that:
• Stimulates the cells by increasing the energy budget (pyruvate), which reflects glycolysis
• Increases Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), which reflects the energy level of the cells
• Increases total protein content, which reflects protein metabolism
• Increases DNA content, which provides information about the number of cells and thus cell division Ideal for tired skin, Sepitonic M3 supplies the elements necessary for cell vigor and the maintenance of skin functions. It stimulates cell turnover, restoring vitality and freshness to the skin. As a result of its broad action on all cellular reactions, Sepitonic M3 enhances and brightens skin tone, restores vitality and helps skin regain a healthy fresh tone.”

Only one reviewer for the product on this page who stated she hasn’t used it long enough to properly state.
Another website, http://www.eurodayspainc.com/fenix-hyaluronic-copper-zinc-renewal-serum-p-428.html, has the product on sale for $99 but no product review.
About.com had an article about good sunblocks and had this:
Inorganic formulas contain the UV-blocking pigments zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Zinc and titanium oxides lie on top of the skin and are not absorbed. They prevent nearly all UVA and UVB rays from reaching the skin. Older sunblocks are white, pasty, and unattractive, but current products use so-called microfine oxides, either zinc (Z-Cote) or titanium. They are transparent and nearly as protective as the older types. Microfine zinc oxide may be more protective and less pasty-colored than microfine titanium oxide.
Another website for a new invention for absorbion of zinc had this:
Conventional zinc containing creams and ointments comprise zinc in the form of zinc oxide. Zinc oxide is a form of zinc highly insoluble in water, lipids and non-polar solvents and is thus merely suspended in a pharmaceutical carrier to produce a white ointment or cream which is poorly absorbed into the skin leaving unsightly deposits on the skin after use.
For a product to work, per the site, zinc linoleate has to be the ingredient as it is a colourless and fat soluble form of zinc which is readily absorbed into the skin.
Considering I cannot find any other reviews for this product, no clear undestanding of which type of zinc is contained in the non-suncreen products and the high cost of it, I’ll skip. However, there are other benefits such as sun protection, acne and other possible skin disorders in a pharmaceutical grade dosage.

Zinc is a powerful vitamin, not just when applied externally, but also when ingested. It’s involved in healing and repair of all tissues, though skin is most visible (dryness, raised hair follicles and thick callus). It is vital to the production of sex and adrenal cortex hormones. It is also a key to pituitary control of sex drive, menstrual cycles and milk production. It is a control factor of immunity, infection and allergy. It also concentrated in the memory centers of the brain. Zinc depletion can cause memory loss; supplements can sometimes restore mental acuity.
Dr. Richard Kunin wrote a wonderful article about all the powers of Zinc, which can be read here: http://www.drinkyourvitamins.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=206:zinc-power&catid=53:articles-on-nutrition&Itemid=121
