It’s been four weeks since I started using CellCeuticals products for aging. As I’ve written in my two week review, I still love it and will not give it up!

My favorite is still the NeoCell Micro-Resurfacing Skin Treatment due to how it makes me skin feel clean and it’s not too abrasive.

I have noticed a visible change in the lines on my forehead and some diminished areas around the crows feet. I feel my face is more vibrant and supple and I wake up with a glow.

I definitely like all the products in the regiment and would recommend them to anyone.

If you haven’t already signed up, there is a link in another blog entry to win a free Gentle Cleanser compliments of CellCeuticals but hurry as the drawing will be August 15th!

Here is a YouTube video on what others state about CellCeuticals as well as a demonstration on how to use the program:

resveravida

I received a spam mail on a product called ResVeravida which I clicked on it to go to their website and watched a very interesting and long 60 minutes show on Resveratrol.   The story discusses the buzz around Resveratrol and then went into the research from Harvard and continued on some studies involving monkeys and humans on calorie restrictions.  They found that if you restrict your calories, you help to slow down aging and possibly eliminate certain diseases.  The food the people eat makes you wonder if they are truly living (if you watch the clip, you will see what I’m talking about).  They also discuss the clinical trials on Resveratrol on diabetes and cancer and note that 9 out of 10 drugs tested in mice fail in humans.

ResVeravida claims to contain a high concentration of Resveratrol which will aid in reducing the aging process, eliminate/curtail certain diseases, helps the immune system, lose weight and so forth.

Here is more information from their site:

  • Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) have found that nutrients in red wine may help reduce the risk of developing prostate cancer.
  • New research shows that a compound in red wine and grapes (RESVERATROL) may counter a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease.
  • ACAI BENEFITS: Studies have shown that Acai Berries are one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world. They have naturally occurring Omega 3, 6 and 9 oils. Plus, they help promote cardiovascular and digestive system health.

I’ve not been able to find a legitimate site for reviews as most have connections with the product.  It is a “free” offer with money back guarantee.

Product Deteails

MD Skincare treatments consist of cosmetic products that are geared toward all skin types and both genders. These skin treatments aim to assist users with common skin concerns such as anti-aging, acne, dryness, irritation and redness. MD Skincare claims to reduce the amount of skin care steps by creating single products that address several issues at once. The exclusive active ingredient found in MD Skincare treatments is a Hydra-Pure Chelating Complex, which could possibly aid users in preventing wrinkles, acne blemishes, dry complexions and irritation.

The Good

  • All MD Skincare products are offered via the official website.
  • Testimonials are provided on the website.
  • MD Skincare has been featured in magazines.
  • A convenient ingredient list is offered on the official website.

The Bad

  • The MD Skincare line contains alpha hydroxy acids, which may irritate the skin of some users.
  • A 100% money-back guarantee is absent from the website.
  • MD Skincare products are not conveniently available in retail stores.
  • There are no clinical studies offered to show how MD Skincare will really benefit your skin.
  • Some MD Skincare products may increase sensitivity to sunlight for some users.

The Bottom Line

Like many new-age skin care lines with “extensive ingredient research,” MD Skincare is a company that makes many common claims regarding acne, anti-aging, dryness and sun-damaged skin issues. While these fairly high-end products may benefit the complexions of some users, there’s no guarantee that they’ll improve your overall skin quality as suggested on the website. Needless to say, there are numerous cosmetic lines taking a similar “scientific” approach, and they make similar claims concerning skin care. When it comes down to it, many consumers may desire further clinical proof before investing in these cosmetics. It would also be nice if some sort of free samples were offered via the official website so that potential customers could first test the products before buying.

Did you know you can purchase fillers from the internet?  If that doesn’t scare you, it should.   I found a website that requires no prescription and claims to be the exact same fillers and botox that you get professionally.

One of the products is called BxTA “derived from botulinum toxin type A.  The crystallized and lyophilized toxin is a valued drug for neurological disorder and cosmetic treatments.”  It’s also injected into the muscle.  They also claim, “with the supports of various clinical reports, BxTA could effectively improve the appearance of crow’s feet (smile lines) around the eyes, frown lines between eyebrows (glabellar lines) and horizontal forehead lines.  It can also be applied on nasal scrunch (bunny line). The improvement could last for 3 to 6 months.”  Their dermal filler is called Reyoungel.

Here is an excellent article on why you should not purchase these products from the internet or from unqualified people: http://www.locateadoc.com/articles/botox-at-a-bargain-dangers-of-bargain-botox-injections-1461.html

Radiesse

Radiesse is a fairly new cosmetic filler made of calcium microspheres suspended in a water-based gel.   Radiesse is different from collagen and normal fillers with hyaluronic acid.   Because of its design, it’s expected to curtail, if not eliminate, allergic reactions.   Radiesse claims to not only reduce medium and deep lines and wrinkles but it als provides a fuller look where it’s used.  This new filler possibly eliminates some plastic surgery facelift procedures.

According to the Radiesse website, this filler also stimulates the body to produce new collagen.  They also state that it’s more effective than Restylane based on a 60 subject clinical trial.  Radiesse also provided greater subject satisfaction over Juvederm and Perlane based on a 205 subject trial.

Realself  had some real testimony on the Radiesse which was not favorable but remember that not all procedures work for everyone.   It’s unfortunate nonetheless when anyone suffers from something like this.  Medicadepot also lists a story on over 930 media reported complaints bad procedures on fillers in general during a five year period.   To keep it in perspective, last year1.36 million women and 84,000 men were treated with dermal fillers.

More information on the Radiesse clinical trials:

1. Based on a clinical study of 205 patients who were treated with a regimen of RADIESSE, Juvéderm and Perlane fillers. Patients were provided with a questionnaire and asked to rate the level of satisfaction at 4, 8, and 12 months post second injection. Patients were provided a yes/no questionnaire to address recommendations of RADIESSE dermal filler or other products at 4, 8, and 12 months.  Moers-Carpi, M. M., Vogt, S., Santos, B. 2. Based on a clinical study of 60 patients who were treated with a regimen of 2 injections 3 months apart with RADIESSE and Restylane fillers. I just read an article from totalbeauty.com on Chanel Precision Sublimage Essential Regenerating Cream being the number one “most controversial beauty product.”

This is what the clip read:

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 5.3*

Why it’s controversial: What are readers divided on most with this? The price. “Even my dermatologist laughed and told me to save my money,” one reader says. But others counter that it’s a “miracle cream worth every penny!” Fans say this gives them “dramatic improvement overnight” and it is the “anti-aging fountain of youth.” But naysayers argue they “haven’t seen any difference in my skin” and it “didn’t really live up to its larger than life name.”

That was great to hear that the high end products don’t always live up to their claims and maybe you are just buying the name. I will give them the credit that some readers did in fact like the product.

Resveratrol
Why is resveratrol so good for you?  It’s because it’s an antioxidant and our bodies need that for slowing and preventing the oxidation of other molecules.  The way healthcastle explains it, “when our body cells use oxygen, they naturally produce free radicals (by-products) which can cause damage. Antioxidants act as “free radical scavengers” and hence prevent and repair damage done by these free radicals.”

Did you know that peanuts are high in resveratrol?  Other naturally occurring foods that provide antioxidant benefits are soy, tea, watermelons, flax seed, barley, kale, peaches and a host of many others.

There is a debate if a supplement can deliver the same benefits of something such as red wine.  The experts claim that resveratrol is optimal via absorbtion in the mouth.  When you swish red wine around before swallowing, you get optimal absortion.  Hence, those experts state a supplement can’t deliver as much or perhaps 20% of the intended intake.   Other experts such as Dr. Oz touted the benefits of resveratrol on Oprah in supplement form.

Products such as the following are claimed to be good:

OPC Factor

“OPC Factor contains Resveratrol, OPC’s, Lycopene, Lutein, gingko biloba, green tea leaf, bioflavonoids, grape seed extract and more than 30 powerful vitamins, minerals, extracts and full spectrum plant enzymes – and delivered in individually sealed packets that do not expose your product to oxygen, can be transported on planes and deliver 97% of its ingredients to your bloodstream.”

“Resveratrol Select, which is unlike many diet supplements in that it uses a combination of natural and herbal ingredients designed to help the body stay healthy while losing weight. And one capsule of Resveratrol Select includes as much resveratrol as 200 glasses of wine—without the added calories that alcohol can add to the waistline. But consuming resveratrol alone isn’t enough to help with weight loss—so the manufacturers of Resveratrol Select also added a different type of antioxidant, Green Tea Extract (EGCG) and Chromium, which could make a big difference.”

botoxpic

As a migraine sufferer, I was very interested in hearing more about Botox’s relief for migraines.  I was going to blog about this a week ago and on the front of Yahoo was a story on plastic surgery and Botox.    The University of California presented a study back in 2000 on the benefits of Botox injections and reported that 75% of the patients in the study experienced migraine relief for three to four months post injections.  What is important to note, they only had 24 patients in the study which is a very small number and doesn’t lend a lot of statistical weight.

I’m still leary of Botox even though it’s purified and diluted from the form that causes serious illness and death.  To get the effects for migraine relief, the Botox is injected into the muscles of the brow, eyes, forehead, the side and back of the head.  The findings of the study found that it required 80 units of Botox which equates to around $350 or more and typical insurance will not cover it but hey, what a reason to give your spouse to treat your migraine while looking good!

There are two clinical trials running right now that are looking for patients.  Keep in mind they have to have a placebo so you might get that and have no effects but given clinical trials are free, it’s worth a shot if you have migraines.
